I wanted to bring the whimsical and quirky nature of the classic holiday story into my decorations this year. Now that I have kids I wanted to transform my living room with a Grinch Christmas Tree that my kids would always remember! Thanks to Oriental Trading for providing the supplies for my DIY Grinch Tree.From my childhood, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was one of my favorite movies for the Holiday. Using thick foam I cut out two heart shaped pieces and hot glued them together, leaving a small opening in the bottom to slip onto the tree.Īnd there, my DIY Grinch Tree is complete! In order to celebrate the spirit of The Grinch, and add some red to my holiday tree, I decided to depict the Grinch’s heart as my tree topper. With all of the green ornaments finished my Grinch Christmas Tree was lacking a tree topper. This ornament was done in layers, making sure to cover the entire ornament evenly. Then I coated all the pieces in Mod Podge. I tore the paper into strips and dipped it in water to make it bend around the ornament better. My final green ornament was made using green paper and more Mod Podge. These are also the best for the kids to help with. I filled one with green pony beads and the other with shimmery green gift bag filler. The simplest ornaments were my two filled ornaments. Like, the other painted ornaments, I then had to wait for my glitter ornament to dry. To up the glitter factor I also poured in some actual green glitter in a matching shade ans swirled it around the coat the inside evenly as well. This particular paint dries mostly clear other than the glitter. ![]() Then I let them dry.įor my glitter ornament I filled the inside with a green glitter paint, and swirled it around. I squeezed a small amount of each shade of green inside the ornament and swirled them around. Then I hot glued a piece of greenery around the top for the Grinch hair! Simple, modern, Grinch ornaments.įor my ornaments that are painted on the inside, I did both a glitter ornament and a paint swirl ornament.įor the paint swirl ornaments I used two different colors of shimmery green paint. The fuzzy modern Grinch ornaments (above) are made by attaching fuzzy felt to the outside of a glass ball ornament. It was one of the Mod Podged ornaments that really put the whole Grinch theme into motion. ![]() What do you need to make your own Grinch Tree?
